Engagement Ring

Gold overlay craftsmanship dates back to the Shang and Zhou dynasties, primarily used as decorative patterns on various practical objects such as bronze vessels, chariots, and weapons. In 1973, the renowned Chinese scholar Shi Shuqing published an article titled 'Ancient Gold Overlay Craftsmanship in China' in the journal 'Wenwu,' introducing one of China's most important ancient crafts. Ring production mainly involves inlaying and grinding overlay, where prepared 24K gold wires are inlaid into silver, and then the entire surface is ground with overlay stones to remove excess gold and silver, resulting in a naturally smooth surface with seamless integration of gold and silver, followed by overall hammering and shaping. The characteristic of this craftsmanship lies in its complexity, with relatively high losses and scrap rates. The 24K gold portion is embedded as an overlay, not gold plating!
